Robert A. Fitch is a graduate of Syracuse University and Syracuse University College of Law. He started with the firm in 1973 and became a partner in 1978. He has tried significant cases in the state and federal courts in New York in all areas of the firm's practice with a notable track record of defense verdicts in trucking, professional malpractice involving architects, engineers and dentists, general liability, and product liability.

In a federal death case Mr. Fitch tried on behalf of a product liability defendant involving a defective Christmas tree light cord resulting in a fire that burned down a single family home and killed its owner, the ensuing four and a half week trial -- 42 witnesses testified -- ended in a defense verdict. Most recently, he prevailed with three defense verdicts in a row in complex dental malpractice actions with significant exposure. In a death action alleging hepatitis, he was able to negotiate a voluntary dismissal based upon a detailed investigation and evidentiary showing of lack of causation. And in the realm of federal repetitive stress injury litigation, he has obtained substantive dismissals.

Mr. Fitch is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Trucking Industry Defense Association, the Federal Bar Council, International Association of Defense Counsel and the New York State Bar Association.
